Using Stacking Racks for Onion Cold Storage

High-density storage is a key requirement for onion cold storage. We use stacking racks to store onions, which offer the following advantages:

Ensure complete coverage of the cargo by cold air

When onions are stored in loose piles, they come into contact with the floor, resulting in poor ventilation. Using stacking racks to store onions creates sufficient spacing to allow cold air to circulate, helping you prevent sprouting, rot, and spoilage.

Reducing Stacking Pressure

In our onion cold storage system, we employ a modular design for tiered storage, using steel columns to support the weight of the onions. This helps prevent issues such as crushing, cracking, skin peeling, and flesh damage caused by excessive stacking height, thereby maximizing the preservation of the onions’ appearance and texture.

Utilizing Vertical Space for High-Density Storage

Each rack is an independent unit capable of supporting 1,000–1,500 kg. Within the warehouse, these units can be stacked up to four levels high, minimizing aisle space and fully utilizing the upper storage areas. A 500-square-meter warehouse can accommodate 1,000 stacking racks, storing up to 1,000 metric tons of onions, enabling high-density onion cold storage.

Improving Operational Efficiency

This onion cold storage solution is designed for quick storage and retrieval using forklifts.
Each unit can be moved with a forklift, which significantly reduces handling time during bulk storage or retrieval—the task can be completed by just 1–2 people, thereby lowering labor costs.

High Container Loading Capacity

In this onion cold storage solution, a single container can hold 300 stacking racks, helping you reduce ocean freight costs.

No Installation Required

Once the stacking racks arrive, there is no need to build a foundation or use bolts for assembly. A single person can put them into use simply by inserting the uprights into the bottom pallet, saving you time and labor costs. The stacking racks do not need to be anchored to the floor; they can be moved as needed and arranged flexibly.

High Compatibility

The stacking racks used in this onion cold storage solution are designed for cold storage environments and support the storage of onions in mesh bags, cardboard boxes, and loose on pallets. They also support high-density storage of other cold storage products, offering excellent adaptability.
